Rallies in Canada for Amnesty!

Reminder: Rally for War Resisters this Saturday!

Rally to demand that deportation proceedings against U.S. war resisters currently in Canada cease immediately; and that a provision be enacted by Parliament ensuring that U.S. war resisters refusing to fight in Iraq have a means to gain status in Canada.


Saturday, Jan. 26, 1:00 p.m.
Main Branch of the Vancouver Public Library (Georgia and Homer)
Speakers will include:

Ash Woolson
, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Bellingham Chapter
Bill Siksay, Member of Parliament for Burnaby-Douglas.


The War Resisters Support Campaign has called a pan-Canadian mobilization on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 to ensure :
1) that deportation proceedings against U.S. war resisters currently in Canada cease immediately; and
2) that a provision be enacted by Parliament ensuring that U.S. war resisters refusing to fight in Iraq have a means to gain status in Canada.

Sudbury:
Rally from 2:00-3:45 pm at the Public Library, Downtown (McKenzie Street) Branch, Meeting Room 1.
The rally will feature films on Iraq war resisters in Canada and speakers. Confirmed speakers include a representative of the War Resisters Support Campaign, a representative from "l'Association des etudiant[e]s francais[es] de l'Universite laurentienne" (AEF), and Rev. John Harvey of St. James Anglican Church.


Thunder Bay:

Thunder Bay will be hosting a video showing of Let Them Stay on January 29th at the Unitarian Hall. War Resister Robin Long will join the event. Details to follow.
